My Period Chronicles

Let your voice be the reason someone else feels seen, heard, and supported.

About this Campaign

“My Period Chronicles” started as a themed Vodcast/Podcast mini-series compiling several submissions from the general public, discussant interviews, vox pop, and gifting care kits (thoughtful feminine branded products) to lucky winners per episode. The aim of this mini-series was to create much-needed awareness, educate thousands and eradicate unnecessary taboos on matters that concern women’s period health.

Three years later, we are set to launch My Period Chronicles 2.0, a digital storytelling campaign that is created to spark honest conversations about periods and bust harmful myths that many Nigerian girls and even women everywhere grow up believing.

In many homes, schools, and communities, menstruation is still treated as something shameful or taboo. Because of this silence, girls are left confused, misinformed, and sometimes even afraid of something completely natural.

Through this campaign, we want to break the cycle of shame by letting real women tell their real stories. During Menstrual Hygiene Month, we will share personal experiences from women and girls that challenge myths, highlight truth, and encourage more open conversations about periods.

Our Approach

We are using storytelling, education, and community connection to create a safe, relatable, and empowering space for menstrual health awareness. Here’s how we are doing it:

Storytelling Series

Women across Nigeria will share stories about how menstrual myths shaped their experiences and also stories around menstrual stigma they have faced. These will come in short videos and visuals shared on social media.

Educational Content

We will post simple, clear infographics and expert-backed facts to debunk common myths and provide helpful menstrual health tips.

A-Z of Menstruation Pocket Guide

We are also launching a key campaign tool which is a downloadable PDF that will offer accurate, easy-to-understand information for parents, teachers, and youth groups.

Cultural Connection

We will also collect local slang or words used for menstruation in different Nigerian communities. This will help bring culture into the conversation and show that period talk belongs everywhere.

A-Z of Mensuration

By highlighting myths and sharing facts, we demystify common misconceptions and replace them with real knowledge.

Campaign Objectives

Give Women and Girls a Voice

We want to create a platform where Nigerian women and also women and girls anywhere can safely share their stories and speak their truth.

Tackle Menstrual Myths

By highlighting myths and sharing facts, we will clear up common misconceptions and replace them with real knowledge.

Educate Through Story and Science

We will combine real-life stories with verified health information to help young people, parents, and teachers understand periods better.

Normalize Period Talk

Periods are not dirty or shameful. So by encouraging open conversations, we hope to make period talk a normal part of everyday life.

Proposed Impact

We believe that when women speak, change happens.
By the end of My Period Chronicles 2.0, we hope to see:

More people speaking up about menstrual health without shame

Fewer myths and more facts being shared, especially online

Stronger confidence in adolescent girls when managing their periods

More awareness in families, schools, and communities

Tell Your Story

Have you ever been told something untrue about your period? Have you carried shame, doubt, or confusion because of it

Now is the time to change that for yourself and for others.
We’d love to hear:

  • Your Period Story
  • The Myth You Heard
  • The Truth You Stand For and Want Heard

By sharing your story, you help us break the cycle and build a better, stigma-free future for the next generation. Let your voice be the reason someone else feels seen, heard, and supported.
